The owner of those gorgeous legs!
The Topi. What a magnificent antelope. He is a gorgeous brown colour with dark, almost denim-looking patches on his face, upper front legs, hips and upper thighs. Topi’s are considered to be one of the most social animals in the Serengeti and Masai Mara, happily ‘socializing’ with zebra, wildebeests or even ostriches.
If you think all antelopes are created equal, check out “My Love Affair with Antelopes” found in my archive on July 5:

The klipspringer is only about 22 inches high at the shoulder and weighs in about 20-40 pounds. They are rock climbers with incredibly strong back legs and can launch themselves up the side of a smooth wall to land, four feet, on a projection the size of a lemon. Quite extraordinary little guys.
Junkyard Wars: The Antelope Edition
Looking like it was cobbled together from spare parts and by far the oddest looking antelope roaming the plains of east Africa, the Eastern White-bearded Wildebeest. This was shot in Ndutu, Tanzania while I was following the migration. How something so goofy and illogical looking can be so graceful and powerful in motion is one of nature’s little surprises.
