No bugs, bees or beavers to be found yesterday at the nature park so, bored, I found myself experimenting with the big pink flowers (see previous post). Swish 1–a fast pan with continuous shooting at 1/50, f14. So, my question to you all is…should the experimenting continue?
What to shoot? It’s too cold. Too much snow. Slush everywhere. No animals. (Ok-squirrels and crows) So, time to experiment. I suspended a glass casserole dish over two tall beer glasses. Put some water in it. Dropped in some vegetable oil. Slid a plate under the glass dish with coloured crystals and rocks from Sedona. Attached my 100M macro and shot.
Thoughts?
Ant Wars
One morning when I was walking the dog I came across this insane colony of ants on the sidewalk. It was very difficult to see what the convention was all about, but clearly I had stumbled upon a very important event. I bolted back home to grab my camera and came back to try shooting the action. They were moving so fast I couldn’t even figure out where to focus. I then decided to experiment with motion blur, something I had never tried before. I am still not sure if I succeeded, but there is something about these photos that makes me keep looking at them. (Although I confess I sometimes get itchy!) If you have an opinion one way or the other, I would be curious. And, sorry if I made you scratch…
