Veoila Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award is probably the most prestigious photography awards competition for wildlife. It is sponsored by the British History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine and holds a 10,000 GBP prize. I entered in 2009 and had one image make it to the semi-finals. This past year, four of my images made it to the semi final round! Approximately 44,000 images were entered with 12,000 making to the semi-finals and 1100 making to the final round. I am pretty excited I made it that far on 4 categories given how new all this is for me.
You really should check out the gallery on-line. Or if you are in London, go to the exhibit. http://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit-us/whats-on/temporary-exhibitions/wpy/onlineGallery.do
